“Twist” in the Shows

Watching television entertains us. Watching the show with the same pattern could bore us. This 2010, ABS-CBN and GMA released new shows that gives a ‘twist’ in the certain shows. Here are some examples.

1. Agua Bendita

Agua Bendita is a fantaserye (a combination of drama and fantasy series) adapted from Rod Santiago’s comics. Agua Bendita was published under Liwayway Comics. Here you will see the different backgrounds of the twins Agua and Bendita. Agua was born with physical problems while Bendita was born normally. Will Agua grow up normally? Will she experience the things a lady would experience? Follow the journey of Agua and Bendita as they grow. The show features Xyriel Anne Manabat, and will feature Andi Eigenmann.

2. Tanging Yaman

Tanging Yaman is the second series of the three discovered stars Erich Gonzales, Ejay Falcon and Enchong Dee. Tanging Yaman is a political romance drama that follows a Josefina’s (Fina)  journey from being a squatter into the Philippine’s first daughter. Will politics destroy her life? Will Fina stay in the palace of rather stay in the squatters area? The show features Rowell Santiago, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Noni Buencamino, Jodi Sta. Maria-Lacson, Enchong Dee, Ejay Falcon, Melissa Ricks, Matt Evans and Erich Gonzales.

3. First Time

First Time is a romantic drama series that features Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio and Jhake Vargas, who appeared in as young Jodi, Cholo and Tristan (respectively) in Stairway to Heaven. It is a romantic series that follows 3 high school students who studies in the same school.

4. Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo

Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo is a primetime drama series that follows a story of a unhappy housewife. Celine had a chance of being happy when he met Steve. One day Celine was shocked in the news that the plane (where his husband works) crashed. Celine also finds out that she got pregnant. The drama series features a powerhouse casts like Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Albert Martinez, Gabby Conception and the comeback of Ms. Kris Aquino.

5. Diva

Diva was dubbed as the “first ever Kantaserye in the Philippines”. Diva follows the “ugly duckling” story of Sampaguita. Sampaguita wants to be a famous singer despite her looks. This drama reminds me of Nora Aunor and Cherie Gil’s Bituin. The show features Regine Velasquez, Mark Anthony Fernandez, TJ Trinidad, Ruffa Mae Quinto and Glaiza de Castro.

The industry welcomes “new looks” for primetime series. As a matter of fact, this adds the “interest” of watching prime time shows at night.
